Effect of Physalis Angulata L. Leaf Water Extract on Malondialdehyde (MDA) Testis, Calcium Intracellular Sperm and Total Motile Sperm of Male Wistar Rats (Rattus Novergicus) Model of Hypertension

Background: Determining the sperm quality can be measured by calculating motility and spermmotility is governed intracellular calcium (Ca2+) concentration. However, calciumincrease found in essential hypertension cases may decrease acrosome reaction increase ROS production,and trigger cell apoptosis. Ground cherry (Physalis angulata L) an herbal plant containingbioflavonoid as antioxidant which crucial to defend against free radicals prevent toxic effects.Objective: This study aims test capacity of Physalis L. extract, preventing disruptionof male Wistar strain rats model through oxidative stress reduction andcytosolic regulation.Method: Experimental animal white rat (Rattus novergicus) wereintraperitoneally inducted with L-NAME. The animals were divided into 5 treatment groups givenPhysalis leaf water extract various doses for 14 consecutive days. At end study,animals sacrificed, testes taken measuring MDA levels, calcium, andsperm motility.Results: proven increasing number testicular MDAlevel, decreasing motilesperm hypertension.Conclusion: results show that theincrease testis level amount, numberof motile on mice hypertension.
